About Michelle Joseph-Long
Born and raised in small town Ohio, Michelle Joseph-Long has spent the majority of her life living in her rural home town of Lisbon. Her childhood days were filled with a lot of outdoor activities and equestrian adventures. Throughout her adult years she was heavily involved in the equestrian sport, showing Quarter Horses and Tennessee Walking Horses. In recent years, she moved to Austintown, Ohio, a township next to Youngstown and a short 30 minute drive north of her home town. After supporting her daughter through college, she really concentrated her efforts on pursuing her passion for fine art photography and painting.
Her interest in photography goes back many years. From her first 110 point-and-shoot camera at age ten, she learned to love capturing images on film. As a young adult, her interest in still photography continued while friends and family moved on to video. "There just wasn't anything better than being able to browse through a photo album, step back in time and allow my mind to imagine the event captured in each picture." She has never lost that fascination with printed images, or, the ability to preserve a landscape as she visualized it. While Michelle is considered a self-taught photographer, her technical knowledge was gained through books, workshop, and working with other photographers.
Michelle also takes her creativity to the canvas through acrylic painting. She enjoys the hands-on raw experience of creating the work by using the paint brush as she watches the scene unfold one stroke at a time. Her painted works range from pet portraits to landscapes and flora's to non-objective abstracts.
Michelle has exhibited her photography and paintings in area juried art competitions and in local businesses and galleries. She has worked as a portrait and wedding photographer and has completed commissioned paintings. Current original paintings for sale can be found on her Facebook page or you can see all of her artwork or acquire prints via www.michelle-joseph.artistwebsites.com. Her print-on-demand site offers prints on high quality canvas or fine art papers with many framing options available.
